Jobs and Oil Changes

Broadway Bridge Wash and Lube isn't in the Bronx, but it is very close. It is in Manhattan, just over the Broadway Bridge past the Marble Hill Target. In any case, I thought that some BD readers might be interested in two jobs I saw posted during an early morning lube and wash this fine morn. Beyond the job postings, the Wash and Lube special for $40.23 (tax included) is a pretty good deal.

Broadway Wash and Lube is located at 5134 Broadway (220th Street and Broadway). Phone: 212-569-4570

Baron Ambrosia Dishing About the BoogieDown's Best Delivery Options

First, I'll point out that, of course, the Baron's picks for the Bronx come last in this NY Magazine article - even after that most insular and alien of boroughs, Staten Island. I will say, however, that the Baron has some interesting places on his list.

My favorite comment from Baron Ambrosia on the marinated flank steak at Siam Square:
“The chile-tamarind-marinated flank steak will make you want to slap the chef for making you feel so vulnerable.”
Check the whole shebang HERE

Any delivery spots you think your fellow Bronxites should know about?

Palin: "Our North Korean Allies" -Huh?

This has nothing to do with the Bronx. The woman is just an idiot. And frankly it's scary that she is vaguely in the discussion of presidential candidates, not to mention a front runner for the GOP. Scary.

Are You Boycotting the Riverdale Review Too?

Tony Cassino over at Bronx Political Chatter has a post celebrating the growing boycott of the Riverdale Review and its editor Andy Wolf.

The ole BD wants to know if you think the boycott is warranted? Does anyone else have as low an estimation of Mr. Wolf as Mr. Cassino? Does anyone in (or out) of Riverdale care very much about the Review?

POTS Night at Bronx Ale House

Get your weeknight drink on, minus the guilt!

Tomorrow night (11/4, from 6:30pm to 10pm) is the 2nd Annual POTS Night at Bronx Ale House (216 W. 238th Street). The suggested donation of $10 will get you discounted craft beers (along with other drinks, if you so desire) and delish hors d'oeuvres.

All proceeds from the night will benefit POTS (Part of the Solution), one of the oldest and largest emergency food programs in NYC. POTS, whose slogan is "Feeding Our Neighbors, Nourishing Our Community," also offers an array of social and legal services to help low-income people and families improve their lives. POTS is currently renovating an adjacent building on Webster Avenue in order to expand their services - click here to learn more about their "Building for the Future" project.

Election Day!

Just a pesky reminder to get out there and vote today.

Most polling sites open at 6am and close at 9pm, so there's definitely time to cast your vote after work tonight.

To learn where your closest polling station is, please visit the Poll Site Locator of the NYC Board of Elections website.

MTA Needs a Proofreader

BD Reader J. Marin from Hunts Point sent in the below pic of just one of the many pieces of evidence of incompetency over at the MTA:
We know the MTA's budget problems are bad, but maybe they should think about hiring a proofreader for their signs.

Thanks J. Marin!
